Camping Safety Tips and Must-Have Items

Stay safe while camping with these essential safety items!

One of the most therapeutic ways to spend your time and cleanse your head from the stresses of everyday life is camping.

But like everything in life it’s important to remember that safety always has to come first!

In the hustle bustle of preparing for and packing for a camping trip it can be easy to forget the importance of including safety items.

With items like food, clothing, cook-ware, and of course wine glasses on top of the list, safety items can often take a back seat while preparing for a camping trip.

It’s important to understand that many camp sites can be a long ways from the local doctors office.

Being prepared with basic First-Aid and RX remedies can go a long way towards having solid p

Camping in unexplored or even uninhabited locations can be dangerous even for experienced campers, so if you plan on spending a few nights alone or with friends in the vast wilderness take some of our advice so you can save yourself and others.

So on behalf of campers worldwide here are our safety tips and must-have items in case of emergency. Before we get started with the list of must-have items we need to talk about safety tips.

Camping Safety Tips :

Advice 1

Advice #1 – Always make sure to pack light and don’t try to take as many things as possible with you. Food, Water, Matches, and First Aid Kits are what you should pack immediately. Other items for entertainment or not essential are what you should pack last. By doing this you will avoid tiring yourself when camping and will make the experience better if you don’t have to worry about it.

Advice 2

Advice #2 – Don’t throw stuff away. You never know when you might need that discarded piece of paper or empty bottle of water so it’s better you keep it. And it goes without saying but always throw litter on trash cans and not on the wild nature.

Advice 3

Advice #3 – Remember to check your surroundings. This is an important piece of advice that not a lot of people take seriously. Checking the surrounding should be the first thing you do when you try to set up your tent. There could be an unforeseen water stream coming down on your tent, or a tribe of animals that live nearby and feel threatened by you, and there are a lot more samples.

Advice 4

Advice #4 – If you ever get lost follow the closes river. Let’s say you don’t have a GPS and the phone battery has died. By doing simple logical deductions you can guess which way there’s civilization and that’s what’s going to save you in the end.

Advice 5

Advice #5 – Don’t eat random mushrooms you find on the ground. You might think that this is pretty obvious but the number of people I have heard have done it it’s frightening. Even if you have internet and can Google the mushroom you are looking at you are not an expert and can easily confuse it with another type which could be poisonous and even deadly. If you really want to eat something out of the forest try to look for berries.

That’s it for our safety tips when you go camping, let’s continue with the other part of the article which is the list of must-have items. The ‘boring’ stuff it’s out of the way now so let’s look at some cool gadgets of items that you can take with you when camping which can be extremely useful.

The List of Must-Have Items when Camping:

The Underwater Matches

We are kicking off this list with a personal favorite of mine and a truly must-have item, the underwater matches. These matches are guaranteed to last up to 15 seconds in any condition, whether it’s windy, rainy, or even underwater believe it or not.

Now I can not stress this enough but high-quality matches are very important when you go camping. You can light a fire, sterilize a wound or even use it as a light source. These matches are amazing and will never let you down so I highly recommend them if you are not going to take a lighter with you.

Don’t let the ‘gun’ part of the flare gun scare you though. These are non-lethal and pretty safe if you use them carefully and with respect. They are truly a must-have item in emergency situations.

Before buying them though make sure to check the kit’s content and make sure to be up to date with the use of each item in it. We recommend the aid kits that have essential first aid supplies that are ideal to treat pain and swelling, as well as cuts, scrapes, and burns.
